Our Preschool

The early years are a child's most formative years, the perfect time to instill essential values and create a strong foundation for understanding basic concepts upon which he or she will continue to build.

Hillel Academy offers preschoolers a warm and secure environment that fosters growth. Our Early Childhood program, accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAECY), provides the basic building blocks for future reading and math skills, while stimulating curiosity through enrichment programs in the arts and science. All of this is done under the guidance of loving and caring teachers.

In the Hillel preschool, the emphasis is on meeting the individual needs of every child, whatever his or her level of skill and experience. Our program stresses the development of cognitive and social skills in the context of the values and teachings set by the Torah.

An innovative program of hands-on experiences enables children to apply the knowledge gained, while showing them that learning can be fun, meaningful, and useful. They are introduced to the weekly Torah portion as well as Jewish holidays, tradition, and concepts.

Our classrooms are sectioned into learning stations in which children can explore the world around them and undertake new challenges. Our outdoor play areas are equipped with climbing and riding toys to help students develop coordination, agility and large motor skills.

Judaic Studies

Hillel Academy offers an exceptional foundation in Judaic studies. From offering training in the use of computers to guiding students in developing the essential skills to continue exploration of Jewish texts on their own, Hillel prepares children for a world that is changing daily. We instill in them the ancient values of Torah that have sustained the Jewish people for centuries, creating adults with high moral standards. We engender in them a love for all kinds of learning, inspiring them to expand their knowledge continually.

Hillel students broaden their understanding of Jewish law, traditions, and ethical issues under the guidance of leading Rabbis, Torah scholars, and Jewish studies professionals who teach them to explore and question. They often study texts in the original Hebrew, expounding upon the intricacies and nuances of their material. This exciting element of our program provides the basis for continued learning, as the majority of our graduates choose to spend a year of advanced study in Israel prior to continuing at a university. Hillel is a affiliate of Torah Umesorah, a National Society for Hebrew Day Schools.
