Elementary Halacha Curriculum

In elementary school, the halacha curriculum focuses on the laws pertaining to Yom Tov, Shabbos, brachos, and the basic halachos of the Jewish lifecycle. Each year also adds a unit on a specific halachic topic. To avoid repetition and to maximize the time available, the scope and sequence of the Halacha program is built in a spiral, with an emphasis on different topics each year. Certain units are integrated with other subjects, while other items are covered within the scope of the Chumash or Yahadus curriculum. The middos portion of the curriculum focuses on the halachos of Bain Adam L’Chaveiro.

In middle school, students will begin to learn halacha from the primary source text. An important focus is given to developing textual skills in the Shulchan Aruch and Mishna Berura.
