Annual Campaign
You have helped us build a thriving Hillel Academy. Last year was a uniquely challenging year, but Hillel Academy continues to thrive even during these challenging times:
- Due to the hard work and dedication of our tireless staff, we were able to stay open for in person instruction and to safely provide a first rate education for our 370 students.
- When we were forced to close, or students had to quarantine, they were able to seamlessly continue their education via our online learning platform.
- We launched our first ever grandparents campaign during Sefirat Ha’omer which raised over $75,000, 50% above our goal.
- This year, despite continued precautions due to the pandemic, we continue to improve the educational experience for our record number of students (392!).
- We are expanding our STEM program to include grade-level, curriculum-driven, and experiential learning opportunities for all of our students that will take place on field trips throughout the greater Pittsburgh area.
- We relaunched our Hillel adult education initiative through which we provide educational and social programming for our parents and the greater community. These valuable programs help foster a stronger sense of community among our parent body and further establish Hillel Academy as an important place of learning in Pittsburgh.
- We brought back extra-curricular opportunities such as our high school theatrical production, after school clubs, and mock trial. Hillel sports teams will compete in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association for the first time, significantly broadening the athletic opportunities available to our students. These experiences are vital for the overall development of our students and we will continue to grow and expand these programs throughout the year.
- We know that the 2021 school year will be different from past school years, but with your support we know that we will be able to fulfill our mission of providing an exemplary education to our wonderful students. Our students, staff and families remain our number one priority and we are excited for this challenge.
You can help us thrive and solidify the future of Jewish Pittsburgh by contributing to Hillel’s fourth annual campaign. To keep our students safe during the pandemic, we’ve added tents, ventilation, additional staff, and PPE. These measures have dramatically increased the costs of providing a safe environment. Every dollar you give will have a direct impact on our flourishing students. As an extra incentive, every dollar you give above your donation last year will be matched by the Shapira Foundation.
